Kenyatta emmanuel
Kenyatta is a New York based singer, songwriter, musician, and activist who has shared his music from Sing Sing to Carnegie Hall and across many hearts of America. Being released in 2019 after serving 24½ years in prison, his music and message explore the beauty of life, love, and the human condition, reminding us of all to hold on to hope.
Kenyatta has recently completed recording a powerful new body of work for his upcoming EP and filmed his debut music video for his latest single, “Me For You,” available on all streaming platforms. Guided by the leadership of Galaxy Gives and Rather Unique Music Group, he has collaborated with renowned arts organizations including Musicambia and Carnegie Hall’s Musical Connections program.
His artistic journey and work have been prominently featured in The New York Times. Kenyatta remains committed to using his gift of music to inspire and uplift others, encouraging people from all walks of life to never give up on their dreams, regardless of their circumstances.
Carnegie Hall Debut: On the very same day he was released from the Fishkill Correctional Facility, he traveled straight to Carnegie Hall to perform music he had written while incarcerated.
Columbia University Residency: From 2021 to 2024, he served as the Artist-in-Residence at the Columbia Center for Contemporary Critical Thought (Initiative for a Just Society), where his work explored the intersections of art, abolitionism, and common humanity.
Justice Reform Leadership: Beyond his musicianship, he works as a mission-driven strategist. He has served as a Project Director at After Incarceration and led Voices From Within, directing multi-agency logistics, stakeholder coordination, and justice partnerships
Advocacy: Through platforms like the Stanford Social Innovation Review, he champions arts programming in correctional systems as a form of radical activism and a tool for restoring inner dignity.
Global Fellowships: He is recognized globally as a fellow with social impact networks like Galaxy Givesand The Wellbeing Project.
